What is the average delivery time of a storage building?
You’ve probably been preparing for the purchase of a storage building for several months. You’ve done your research, compared suppliers, maybe even laid a foundation and, if required, applied for a building permit. You’ve decided to buy the storage building from us. After all those months of preparation, you now want to have access to the storage building as soon as possible. We’re doing our utmost to make that happen. Once you’ve met the payment obligation, we’ll start production of the storage building. And how long do you have to wait then? In this blog, you’ll read more about the average delivery time, why it sometimes takes longer than hoped, and the payment terms.
The lead time or delivery time depends on the type of storage building
The lead time or delivery time depends on the type of storage building you’ve ordered. For smaller and non-insulated storage buildings it’s usually 6 to 8 weeks after payment. For insulated and larger storage buildings, it’s advisable to expect a lead time of 12 to 14 weeks after payment. Once the storage building is in production, you can always contact us to inquire about the current status. When an order is ready for transport, you’ll receive a notification from us about the expected delivery date and the contact details of the carrier.
Collecting the storage building yourself
You’re also welcome to collect the storage building from our office. If you haven’t fully paid for the storage building yet, you can settle the payment on-site either in cash or by card. Once the invoice is paid, you can take the storage building with you. Our opening hours are from Monday to Thursday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm and on Fridays until 3:00 pm. We’re closed on weekends.
Reasons why the delivery of your storage building may be delayed
A storage building consists of steel profiles, sheet material, bolts & nuts (matching the color of the sheet metal), fastening brackets, finishing strips, ground stakes or anchor bolts, and doors. We have various suppliers for all these parts. To provide you with a complete storage building in a single shipment, we gather all the parts for your storage building. We ensure that we have all standard products in stock at our central storage building in the Netherlands. If we need to order parts, we depend on the delivery time of our suppliers. If something goes wrong with one supplier, it affects the lead time of your entire storage building.
Payment terms for a Kroftman storage building
You pay 50% before the storage building goes into production. Kroftman purchases some of its products from Asia. We need to pre-finance the purchase of these products. To minimize the impact of this on our working capital, we ask for an advance payment from our customers. In this blog, you can read more about Kroftman’s financial health. We have a payment term of 7 days after you receive the invoice. We advise you to adhere to this payment term. Firstly, because until payment is made, the storage building will not go into production, thus extending the delivery time. Secondly, considering the rising raw material prices, you don’t want to risk your quote expiring. A subsequent quote may be more expensive if raw material prices have increased. Once you’ve received the storage building, you’ll inspect the delivery upon receipt to ensure it’s correct, complete, and undamaged, after which you’ll transfer the remaining 50% to us. Kroftman offers entrepreneurs the option to lease a storage building. You can read more about this in the blog ‘Is the purchase of a storage building financeable?’.
What if a part of the storage building is missing or damaged?
We make every effort to deliver the storage building complete and undamaged to you. If it turns out that you’re missing a part after receiving the storage building, please contact us by phone as soon as possible. We always take photos of the order before it’s shipped. This way, we can compare what we’ve sent with what has or hasn’t arrived at your location. If something arrives damaged, please take a photo of the damage immediately, preferably before unloading the storage building. Then, on the CMR consignment note, please specify exactly which product or part is involved. When signing the consignment note, also indicate the time of signing. This makes it easier for us to determine what went wrong. Even if you notice the damage afterward, email us photos of the damage immediately, along with your invoice number and a description of the damage. We’ll assess the damage internally and inform you of the resolution as soon as possible.
