Kroftman Quality Standard: Quality You Can Prove

You want to know that your shelter is strong and safe, so you can focus on your work.

We believe the same at Kroftman. That's why we don't just focus on the quality of our shelters. We also make sure that quality is backed by technical evidence. Through calculations, testing and documentation, we make it clear what you can expect from our shelters. That's the Kroftman Quality Standard.

What is a Kroftman shelter made of?

A good shelter starts with the right materials. Our frames are made from galvanized S355 structural steel, a steel grade known for its high strength and good weldability.

When configuring your shelter, you also choose the type of cover material. We offer two materials with different properties:

  • PE cover (300 g/m²) is the lighter and generally more affordable option.

  • PVC cover (610 g/m²) is stronger, more resistant to intensive use and has a longer service life. PVC cover is also flame-retardant, while PE cover can continue to burn once ignited.

A heavier cover isn't automatically a better one. The material composition and properties such as tensile strength, tear resistance and UV resistance also matter. That's why we have our cover materials tested.

In addition to material selection, structural safety is also important. That's why we support our shelters with structural calculations and technical drawings. These calculations show, among other things, which wind and snow loads have been taken into account.

The maximum loads vary by model. The configuration also plays a role. For example, a non-standard container arrangement may require additional structural calculations. This makes it clear what loads a structure has been designed for and when an additional technical assessment is needed.

Backed by European standards and independent testing

To demonstrate the quality of our shelters, we use European standards and material testing. But what do these actually mean?

  • EN 13782 – Structural Safety
This European standard sets safety requirements for temporary tent structures, including design, calculations, manufacturing and assembly. The technical documentation supporting our shelters is based on this standard.

  • EN 1090 and CE – Steel Structures
Our steel frames are welded in accordance with EN 1090 and the associated welding quality requirements of ISO 3834. For steel structures covered by European CE regulations, compliance with the applicable requirements is legally mandatory. With our Declaration of Conformity, we confirm that our steel structures meet these requirements.

  • TÜV SÜD – Independent Material Testing
The cover materials used have been tested for properties including tensile strength, tear resistance and UV exposure. The test results provide insight into the properties of the materials.

  • Fire Classifications – Fire Performance of the Cover
The fire performance of the cover materials has also been tested. The test reports include the B2 classification according to DIN 4102-1 and, for the tested PVC cover, the B-s1,d0 classification according to EN 13501-1. These classifications describe how the materials behave in fire under specific test conditions.

The standards, calculations and test results each relate to a different part of the shelter. Together, they provide a clearer picture of its technical quality.

We're also transparent about our warranty. The frame and PVC cover come with a 10-year declining warranty, while the PE cover comes with a 3-year warranty. The applicable warranty terms and conditions are publicly available.

The Kroftman Safety Dossier: All Technical Information in One Place

At Kroftman, you don't just get a shelter. You also get access to the technical documentation. We bring all this information together in the Kroftman Safety Dossier. You can request this dossier for our standard shelters free of charge, even if you're still exploring your options.

The Safety Dossier includes the Build book with structural calculations and technical drawings, information on wind and snow loads, cover material test reports and information about permits.

What does this mean for you?

You can review the technical basis of your shelter before making a decision. And when a client, purchasing manager, safety officer or insurer asks for information, you'll have the relevant available documents at hand.

These documents can also be useful when preparing for a potential permit application. Which documents are required and whether a permit is needed depends on your specific situation and location. The Safety Dossier provides technical information to support this process, but does not replace a site-specific assessment.

Complete certainty. Fully taken care of.

With the Kroftman Quality Standard, we aim to offer more than just a reliable shelter.

We make it clear how the structure is technically supported, which properties have been tested and what documentation is available. This gives you a better understanding of what you're buying, helps you answer technical questions with confidence and saves you the effort of gathering all the available documents yourself.
