Temporary assembly hall for sheltered assembly work

When assembly work no longer fits within the existing workshop or hall, projects can quickly slow down. Components may be spread across the site, materials need to be moved back and forth, and workers do not always have a dry, sheltered space to continue their work. Building a permanent hall is not always the most practical choice, especially when the extra space is needed for a project, a peak period or a temporary expansion of your workspace.

With a Kroftman container canopy, you can quickly create a practical assembly hall on your own site. The canopy can be installed on containers or on concrete and can be used as an assembly area, installation space or temporary workshop. This allows you to expand your working capacity, keep materials and components close at hand and continue assembly work in a sheltered environment without investing in a permanent building.

What is an assembly hall?

An assembly hall is a covered work area for assembly, installation and preparation work on your own site or project location. You use the hall when parts, tools and employees need to work under shelter, without immediately investing in a permanent building.

For many companies, the need for an assembly hall starts with a practical workspace issue. The existing workshop is full, a project requires extra capacity or assembly work needs to continue outside without being too dependent on the weather.

At Kroftman, an assembly hall consists of a modular container shelter for professional use. The shelter can be installed on shipping containers or concrete and can be used as an assembly area, temporary workshop or semi-permanent workspace.

With the structure, you receive the Buildbook free of charge, including technical documentation, so the solution can be professionally assessed.

When is an assembly hall useful?

For many companies, the need for an assembly hall does not start with the idea of building a new hall. It starts with a practical problem on site.

For example, when:

  • the existing workshop or hall is full

  • assembly or installation work needs to continue under shelter

  • extra workspace is needed for a project or peak period

  • parts, tools or materials need to stay close to the work area

  • employees need a dry and practical place to work

  • work processes depend too much on rain, wind or snow

  • building a permanent hall is too expensive, too slow or unnecessary

In these situations, an assembly hall helps create extra usable workspace on your own site or project location. You can organise assembly work more efficiently and keep work moving without immediately starting a permanent building project.

Who is an assembly hall suitable for?

An assembly hall is suitable for companies that need extra covered workspace for assembly, installation or preparation work. Often, there is enough outdoor space available, but without shelter it is not practical to use as a work area.

We often see this need in:

  • construction companies

  • installation companies

  • mechanical engineering companies

  • manufacturing companies

  • maintenance and service companies

  • technical services

  • industrial project locations

  • companies with temporary capacity needs

The application differs per company, but the question is often the same: how do we create extra sheltered workspace without immediately building a permanent hall?

Determining the right size and setup

For many customers, the question starts with a clear work requirement: “we need extra assembly space”, “the work needs to continue outside” or “we need a covered area for parts, tools and employees”. The next step is translating that need into the right width, length, height and setup.

Important questions include:

  • What assembly or installation work do you want to carry out?

  • Will the shelter be installed on shipping containers or concrete?

  • What width, length and height do you need?

  • Do forklifts, service vehicles or other equipment need access?

  • How much free workspace is needed around parts, tools and employees?

  • Is the solution needed temporarily or for long-term use?

  • Are there technical or HSE requirements?

Kroftman supplies different sizes and versions. Thanks to the modular design, there are several options in width, length and setup. If a standard size does not fit the situation, we think along with you about a suitable configuration.

Structure, documentation and permits

An assembly hall must work in practice, but it also needs to be technically assessable. Kroftman shelters have a supporting structure made of cold-rolled, galvanized S355 structural steel. Depending on the application, you choose a PVC cover or a lighter HDPE cover.

Kroftman shelters are calculated in accordance with EN 13782. You receive the Buildbook free of charge, including technical calculations and drawings. Additional technical specifications, assembly instructions and product documentation are also available.

Whether you need an environmental permit for an assembly hall depends on your location, the dimensions, the duration of use and local regulations. Always check this in advance with your municipality or via the official permit portal.
