What warranty applies to your Kroftman shelter?

A Kroftman shelter is designed for long-term use. However, it may occasionally happen that a component no longer functions as you may reasonably expect. In that case, you want to know where you stand and how we will handle the situation.

Kroftman has therefore established clear warranty conditions. Below, we explain which warranty periods apply, how a warranty claim is assessed and what a pro-rata warranty means.

What warranty applies to your shelter?

The following warranty periods apply to the components of the shelter:

  • Frame structure: 10-year pro-rata warranty

  • PVC cover: 10-year pro-rata warranty

  • PE cover: 3-year pro-rata warranty

The warranty period starts on the date of delivery.

What should you do if there is a problem with your shelter?

Is a component missing, or has a defect occurred due to a material or manufacturing fault? Please report the problem to us. We will then assess what caused it.

Among other things, we will consider:

  • Whether the shelter has been used in accordance with the assembly, usage and maintenance instructions

  • Whether the problem is caused by a material or manufacturing fault

  • Whether the structure has been used within the conditions and specifications for which it was designed

  • Whether the shelter has been used and maintained normally

How is a warranty claim assessed?

Our production and delivery processes are documented. This allows us to trace how a product was manufactured and delivered, enabling us to assess each warranty claim carefully and fairly.

If the defect is covered by the warranty, the solution may include:

  • Supplying a missing or replacement component

  • Repairing or replacing a component

  • Taking back the product if this is necessary

  • The appropriate solution depends on the circumstances and the outcome of the warranty assessment.

What does a pro-rata warranty mean?

A pro-rata warranty means that the compensation provided for a replacement component gradually decreases over the course of the warranty period.

This does not mean that your shelter will be defective or require replacement once the warranty period has expired. The warranty period indicates the period during which material or manufacturing faults are assessed in accordance with our conditions. Because a shelter is installed outdoors and exposed to wind, rain, snow, sunlight and everyday use, normal ageing and wear are taken into account when calculating the compensation.

For example:

If a product has a 10-year warranty period and a problem covered by the warranty occurs after one year, the compensation for the replacement component will be 90%. This percentage decreases further each month until the warranty period has expired.

Assembly and disassembly costs are not covered by the warranty.

When does the warranty apply?

The warranty applies when:

  • The defect is reported promptly

  • The defect is caused by a material or manufacturing fault

  • The shelter has been used normally

  • The assembly, usage and maintenance instructions have been followed

  • The shelter has been used within the technical conditions and specifications for which it was designed

When is a problem not covered by the warranty?

The warranty does not apply in the event of:

  • Normal wear and tear

  • Damage caused by improper use or insufficient maintenance

  • Failure to follow the assembly, usage or maintenance instructions

  • Modifications or repairs carried out without Kroftman’s approval

  • Design or specification errors in information supplied by the customer

  • Damage caused by circumstances for which the shelter was not designed or calculated

How can you extend the lifespan of your shelter?

Proper maintenance helps you use your shelter for longer. Regularly check the tension of the ropes, tensioning straps and wind bracing. This is particularly important after strong winds, heavy rainfall or snowfall.

Remove snow in good time to prevent overloading and check that the cover remains properly tensioned. This helps prevent unnecessary wear and keeps your shelter in good condition.
