Can i repair the cover of my shelter?

A small hole or tear in the PVC cover does not necessarily mean you need a new cover. In many cases, you can simply repair the damage yourself.

With the Tear-Aid repair kit, you can quickly fix small areas of damage without a major investment or complicated repair. This means your shelter is ready for use again quickly, so you can get back to work.

What is included in the repair kit?

The Tear-Aid kit contains:

• Tear-Aid Type B repair patch(es)

• An alcohol wipe to clean the cover

• Nylon thread for extra reinforcement when repairing damage along the edge

• Instructions

Damage in the middle of the cover

1. Clean the cover with the alcohol wipe and allow it to dry completely.

2. Cut the patch to size. Make sure it extends at least 2.5 cm beyond the tear on all sides.

3. Round off the corners. This reduces the chance of the patch coming loose.

4. Peel back a small section of the protective backing.

5. Carefully bring the edges of the tear together.

6. Apply the patch while gradually removing the rest of the backing.

7. Press the patch down firmly, working from the centre outwards.

Damage along the edge of the cover

1. Clean the cover and allow it to dry.

2. Cut the patch to size with at least 2.5 cm of overlap.

3. Apply the first patch to the outside of the cover.

4. Place the supplied nylon thread along the edge.

5. Fold the patch around the edge of the cover.

6. Apply a second patch on the other side.

7. Press everything down firmly and trim off any excess nylon thread.

A few more tips

• Make sure the cover is clean, free from grease and completely dry before you start.

• After applying the patch, press it down firmly once more for the best adhesion.
