You've made your decision; the solution to your storage problem is a Kroftman self-build storage building. You've already received a positive decision on your environmental permit (if required), and now you're ready to order the storage building. Although we at Kroftman sell standardized self-build storage buildings, you still have quite a few options to choose from. One of these options is the color of your storage building. In our 15 years of existence, we've seen many color schemes come and go. Choosing a color is a matter of personal taste. In this blog, you'll read more about:

1. Which parts of the storage building you can choose a color for.
2. How to determine which color suits your storage building best.
3. The most popular colors for our storage buildings.
4. Characteristics of colors.
5. How our quotation tool helps in choosing a color for your storage building.

1. Which parts of the storage building can you choose a color for?

The options vary depending on the type of storage building. We distinguish:

  • E-series storage buildings
  • Insulated H-series storage buildings
  • Non-insulated H-series storage buildings

E-series storage buildings
These are the smaller storage buildings that we purchase in their entirety and do not produce ourselves. You cannot make changes to the storage building. It comes standard with a pedestrian door and a roller door. The exterior cladding, as well as the roof, of the E-series storage building always has the color cream white (RAL 9001), and the interior is light gray (RAL 7035). The roller door is signal white (RAL 9003) and the pedestrian door is gray white (RAL 9002). You can still add gutters and downspouts in the color anthracite gray (RAL 7015) to the storage building. These can be ordered with the storage building at an additional cost. Below is an image of an E-series storage building.

Insulated H-series storage buildings

With our H-series storage buildings, you have many more options to customize the storage building to your liking. These storage buildings are partly self-manufactured, allowing us to offer standardized options. These include:

  • additional pedestrian doors,
  • overhead door in the rear wall (for type H7 and wider),
  • overhead door in the side walls 245 x 275 cm (H x W) from type H7 and wider.

In addition, you can choose from the standard colors light gray (RAL 9002) and anthracite gray (RAL 7016) for the roof panels and ridge. For the wall panels, you can choose from the standard colors anthracite gray (RAL 7016), agate gray (RAL 7038), and clear, aluminum color (RAL 9006).

Non-insulated H-series storage buildings
For the non-insulated H-series storage buildings, you have the same options to customize the storage building as with the insulated version. The difference with an insulated storage building is that you have more standard color options and more parts of the storage building to choose from. These are the following (groups of) parts:

  • Roof panels and Ridge
  • Fascias and gutter profiles
  • Wall panels
  • Corner and door profiles

You can choose from the following eight RAL colors for these parts:

5. Black (RAL 9005)
6. Copper brown (RAL 8004)
7. Anthracite gray (RAL 7016)

To give you an idea of where the parts for which you can choose the color are located, we have added the image below. In this image, the roof panels and ridge are colored red brown (RAL 8012), the fascias and gutter profiles are copper brown (RAL 8004), the wall panels are pure white (RAL 9010), and the corner and door profiles are black (RAL 9005).

Other colors than the standard options for the H-series storage buildings
On our website, you cannot choose the colors for your doors. If you want one of the above 17 colors, please inform our sales department. The same applies if you want a color other than our standard colors for your cladding. Our sales department is happy to discuss what is possible with you. In some cases, choosing a different color may extend the delivery time.

The above applies only to the insulated and non-insulated H-series storage buildings, not the E-series storage buildings.

2. How do you determine which color suits your storage building best?

It's up to you to decide which color you want for your storage building. What can help you make the choice is to look at the surroundings of the storage building. What other buildings are nearby, and what colors do they have? You can align with this so that your storage building forms a coherent whole with the existing buildings. Alternatively, you can choose the opposite and make the storage building stand out by opting for a completely different color. Also, pay attention to the color combinations you choose. Here too, you can opt for peace and unity by choosing the same or complementary colors for the different parts. In the above image, we deliberately didn't do that so you can see the different parts clearly. This creates a more striking storage building.

Note: The municipal design requirements determine how the appearance of a building may look. Exempted buildings do not have to comply with these design requirements. However, the municipality can intervene if the appearance of a building is 'seriously in conflict with reasonable design requirements'. So, don't make the colors of your storage building 'too wild'.

3. What are the most popular colors for our storage buildings?

Finding it difficult to make a color choice? Perhaps it helps to know what our most popular color combination is. We see that most customers choose light gray wall cladding combined with anthracite gray roof cladding. This also fits nicely with the gray-white doors.

4. Characteristics of colors

Houses in warm countries are often white, and people often wear white clothing. White has the property of reflecting sunlight. Black absorbs sunlight. A black surface will therefore heat up more in the sun. If you want to keep your warehouse as cool as possible in the summer, it's best to choose roof and wall cladding in the lightest possible color. If you want your warehouse to look as neat as possible, then a darker color is probably better. This will show fewer stains. Whatever color you choose, all color coatings are equally thick (25 micrometers). The color coating is applied uniformly during the production of the cladding. There is also no price difference or quality difference between the different colors. So feel free to follow your own taste.

5. Our quotation tool helps in choosing a color for your storage building

Finding it difficult to choose a color? Our quotation tool can help with that. Color options are addressed in step 7 of the quotation tool. Below you'll see the steps you need to go through to get to step 7 (for an H-series storage building):

Step 1: First, you choose the desired dimensions of your storage building and whether you want an insulated or non-insulated version.
Step 2: You indicate whether you want a storage building with or without skylights (there are no additional costs for this).
Step 3: At step 3, you make the choice for the (location of) doors.
Step 4: You can choose to add an electric motor with two remote controls to your door.
Step 5: You choose how you want to anchor the storage building to the ground (concrete anchors or ground pegs, depending on the type of ground).
Step 6: You can choose to add gutters and downspouts to your storage building.
Step 7: Now you'll see an overview of all the options you've chosen. Below this is an additional choice option: 'Choose your colors'. You have 2 options: 'I'll choose my colors later' and 'I'm choosing my colors now'. If you want to get an idea of how your storage building looks in different color schemes, click on 'I'm choosing my colors now'. You'll then see an image of a storage building with all color possibilities. If you click on a color, you'll see the storage building in that color. This way, you can view different color schemes until you find one that suits your preferences.
