To be honest, we do not recommend dismantling and rebuilding an assembled storage building elsewhere. It's a significant task, and it doesn't bode well for the quality of the storage building. In this blog, we'll tell you more about the ins and outs of relocating an assembled storage building.

The three points to consider when relocating a storage building

If you want to dismantle an assembled storage buildingto rebuild it elsewhere, there are three issues you'll encounter: loosening the anchoring of the storage building, the holes in the sheet material that have occurred during the initial assembly, and the quality of the components. Loosening the anchoring of the storage building

Anchoring the storage building with ground pegs
If you anchored the storage building with ground pegs, it's a considerable task to pull these pegs, which are more than 1 meter long, out of the ground. In that case, it's better to cut the ground pegs. After removing the base profile of the storage building, you can further cut the ground pegs until they are at street level or drive them further into the ground. The ground pegs will remain in the substrate, but this will cause you the least inconvenience.

Anchoring the storage building with concrete anchors
If you anchored the storage building with concrete anchors, you simply unscrew the nut. Perhaps you can even get the threaded rods out of the concrete substrate, but it's more likely that you won't be able to. The anchors that you remove should not be reused. So, you always need new anchor bolts. Here too, make sure that the remaining threaded rods do not protrude above the concrete surface, causing you the least inconvenience. If you know when assembling the storage building that it's a temporary location, you can choose to drill the holes for the concrete anchors deeper than necessary. Then you simply unscrew the nut and drive the threaded rod into the concrete. When drilling, be aware of hidden, deeper lying pipes.

Holes in the sheet material of the storage building

The roof and wall panels are attached to the frame of the storage building with screws with rubber rings around them to prevent water leakage. When you remove this sheet material, you'll be left with screw holes. If you want to use exactly the same screw hole, you'll need to attach exactly the same panels in exactly the same place to the frame. You could number the panels for dismantling, but keep in mind that it's almost impossible to maintain exactly the same screw holes everywhere. Additionally, there's a good chance that the rubbers under the screws have deteriorated. This depends on how long the storage building has been standing, whether the sun shines on it all day, etc. You can buy new rubbers and screws. We supply screws in the color of the storage building. If you order new screws in the same color, there may be some color deviation over time.

If you fail to place the sheet material back in exactly the same place and using exactly the same screw holes, you'll have holes in the sheet material, compromising water tightness. It's also not aesthetically pleasing to have holes in the sheet material and in the facade. Screw holes also remain in the finishing profiles. A small storage building may still be moved intact with the help of a crane. This avoids holes in the sheet material, and you only need to dismantle the anchoring. You can also choose to order new sheet material and new finishing profiles. Since prices can fluctuate, we ask you to contact us for a price indication. Quality of the storage building components

A Kroftman storage buildingis made up of standard elements. These can be detached and often reused. However, the quality does not improve. This applies particularly to the roof and wall cladding and the finishing profiles. An exception to this are the bolt connections with which the structural parts of the storage building are connected to each other. These can be detached and reassembled in the new situation. Loose parts that are no longer reusable can be ordered from us. Since the prices of these loose parts are not listed on our website, for current prices, it's best to contact us by phone.

In summary, it's possible to dismantle an assembled storage building and rebuild it elsewhere. However, we do not recommend this because it always compromises the quality. So, think carefully beforehand whether moving is really worth it.
