FAQ
When is a structural calculation required for your shelter?

My name is Nicolette Lammers, and I have been working with great pleasure for Kroftman for over 13 years. As a sales representative, I receive many different questions from our customers daily, including questions about our assembly conditions. In this blog, I will tell you about the assembly conditions for our container shelters. Like all our products, our container shelters are ideal for self-assembly. If you prefer not to do this, we offer the option to have our assembly team build them for you, for container shelters of 8 meters or wider. Currently, our assembly team has a waiting period of approximately five months, although this can vary. For the most up-to-date waiting times, please contact me by phone. If you choose assembly by our team, please ensure that you meet Kroftman's assembly conditions. You can download these conditions here. Only if you meet the assembly conditions can we guarantee a fast and trouble-free assembly of your container shelter. If you choose to assemble the container shelter yourself, I advise you to also follow the guidelines from the assembly conditions. This will ensure that you are well-prepared and may prevent delays in assembly. In this blog, I will cover the following topics:
1.1 Delivery of the container shelters
You can pick up your container shelter yourself at Kroftman within 24 hours after ordering, once you have paid the invoice. If you choose to use our assembly team, please note that there is currently a waiting period of, currently, five months. You can pick up your container shelter in advance and store it yourself. If you don't have space for this, please discuss it with us. In that case, we will see if we can store your container shelter in our warehouse for a longer period.

If you have your container shelter delivered by us, you are responsible for providing a forklift with a lifting capacity of 1,500 kg. If you do not have one, we can bring a forklift for deliveries in the Benelux and Germany at an additional cost of €150. Hand unloading our truck manually is almost impossible because the packages are very heavy. If they fall, there is a risk of damage and injury. Just to give you an idea, our TC806 container shelter consists of, among other things, a crate of 375 kg (the steel construction) and a crate of 75 kg (the tarpaulin). On our website, you will find the gross weight and transport dimensions under the specifications of each container shelter. Useful to know if you come to pick up your container shelter yourself.
1.2 Unloading point of the container shelter
If you have a large site, please note that the container shelter should not be more than 10 meters away from the construction site. We adhere to this maximum distance for our assembly team. If you are assembling the container shelter yourself, you can maintain a greater distance. However, I would not recommend it. Additionally, the site must be accessible for trucks with dimensions of 22.5 meters in length, 3 meters in width, and 4.5 meters in height. The unloading point must be accessible at the agreed delivery time and accessible with a forklift or crane, regardless of the weather conditions. It may seem logical, but I have experienced cases where this was not the case in practice. That's a shame because then our driver has to leave again, and you will have to make a new appointment for delivery. With all the associated costs.
2.1 Facilities at the construction site of your container shelter
As the client, we are responsible for the working conditions and the safety of our assembly team. We ask you to ensure that:
Even if you are assembling the container shelter yourself, I advise you to maintain free working space around the container shelter and between the containers. You will likely need a cherry picker for assembly, for which you will need 1.5 to 2 meters of free space.
2.2 Other assembly conditions
You are responsible for arranging the necessary permits and/or documents. If you have any questions about this, you can always contact us. There may also be rules for separate waste disposal. Our installers collect the assembly waste and packaging materials at a central location on your construction site. You are responsible for separating and disposing of the waste if necessary.
When installing a container shelter, it is important that you ensure the containers are positioned at the correct distance from each other. Our assembly team only assembles the container shelter and does not relocate containers. Another point I want to highlight is that our installers will suspend their work or will not start in stormy weather or when the temperature feels like -6 degrees Celsius. If you are assembling your container shelter yourself, I advise you not to do so for safety reasons.

Once the assembly work is completed, there are a few points I would like to highlight:
We assume that you have read the assembly conditions and that they are in order. This means that we do not inspect the construction site in advance. If, on the day of assembly, it turns out that the construction site does not meet our conditions, unfortunately, our assembly team cannot start their work. We will then contact you to see how quickly you can meet the conditions. If you need too much time for this, we will schedule a new assembly appointment. This is unfortunate, and the additional costs will be charged to you. You will also have to deal with a waiting time for assembly.
When you receive your container shelter, you will also receive the assembly conditions and the assembly manual. These documents contain detailed instructions on how to assemble the container shelter. I can imagine that you would like to read this manual in advance. That's possible. You can download both documents for all our container shelters from our website. If you go to the container shelter of your choice, you will see various tabs below, including the 'Documentation' tab.
By reviewing the assembly manual, you will know what materials and manpower are needed and how easy or difficult the assembly is. If you want to learn more about self-assembly of a container shelter, read our blog 'Can I assemble a container shelter myself?'

We hope the above information helps you make an informed decision. If you want to know exactly what the container shelter of your choice costs, please feel free to fill out our quotation tool. From this, you will receive a quote by email that shows you at a glance what the transport costs are for your container shelter. You can create multiple quotes and check various options. This way, you can compare them well.
