Kroftman storage buildings are intended for storage

Kroftman storage buildings are designed for storing items. Despite our exciting introduction, our answer is always that any other application is at the customer’s own risk. Our storage storage buildings fall under the category of ‘light industrial function’. This means that the presence of persons is subordinate, as defined in Article 1.1 paragraph 3 of the Building Decree 2012. Different, lighter requirements apply to the storage building, such as requirements related to:

• Fire safety,
• Daylight provision,
• Ventilation, etc.

Applying for a building permit

If you need a building permit (formerly known as a construction permit) to install the storage building, you can only apply for it if you designate the storage building as a storage building with a light industrial function. Simply because a different use of the storage building imposes more requirements that our storage buildings do not meet. If you are granted permission to build the storage building, no one will likely come to check how you use it. However, if something goes wrong because you use the storage building for other purposes, you will be held fully liable for the damage.

Installing partition walls, mezzanine floors, and sanitation facilities

Again, you can customize the storage building according to your own insights, but the storage building is designed for storage. If you turn it into an office or host a party in it, there will be more people staying in the storage building for a longer period than legally allowed for the function the storage building was designed for. Be aware of the risks this entails. You are responsible for this yourself.
