The Frames of Our Storage Buildings are Standardized. This means that for the same type of storage building, with the same nominal dimensions, the frame sizes are identical. Therefore, the internal dimensions also match. However, for the external dimensions, it does make a difference whether you choose an insulated or non-insulated storage building and whether you want to add gutters. In this blog, you can read more about it.
On our website, we try to provide you with as much information as possible. If you go to an overview of all our storage buildings, you will initially see the nominal dimensions. These are the frame dimensions, indicated in meters, as shown in the image below of our H717h storage building.
You can see that the same type of storage building in the insulated and non-insulated variant has the same nominal dimensions (also found on the construction drawing). If you click further on the specifications of the building, the realized external dimensions are shown, in centimeters. These dimensions include the thickness of the building's cladding, as seen in the product sheets of the H717h below. The first product sheet shows the specifications of the non-insulated variant, and the second product sheet shows the specifications of the insulated variant.
As you can see, the external dimensions for an insulated storage building are larger than those of a non-insulated building, despite having the same nominal dimension. This is because the insulated cladding is thicker (40mm) than the non-insulated cladding (18mm). Since the nominal dimensions are the same, the usable floor space, also known as GBO (usable floor area), will also be the same. Only the external dimensions of the building differ due to the difference in cladding thickness. If you add a gutter to the building, 16 cm is added to both sides of the building. In total, you need to add 32 cm to the width of the building.
In the table below, we have listed the dimensions of the H717h storage building, in both the insulated and non-insulated variants. At a glance, you can see that the differences lie in the external dimensions of the building.
Nominal Dimensions (frame dimensions): | H717h Non-Insulated | H717h Insulated |
Width | 7,1 meters | 7,1 meters |
Length | 17,3 meters | 17,3 meters |
Eave Height | 3,7 meters | 3,7 meters |
Clearance Height | 366 cm | 366 cm |
Usable Floor Area/GBO | 667 x 1704 cm= 113,5 m² | 667 x 1704 cm= 113,5 m² |
External Dimensions (including cladding): | ||
Width | 711 cm | 715 cm |
With Gutter Installation | Add 32 cm to width | Add 32 cm to width |
Length | 1728 cm (including cladding) | 1732 cm (including cladding) |
What can be confusing is that the dimensions, as shown in the above table, are displayed in centimeters and sometimes in meters with one decimal place (711 cm becomes 7.1 meters). On the construction drawings, we list the dimensions in millimeters because we want to be even more specific there. This may sometimes make it seem like there is a difference in dimensions, but that is not the case. The mentioned width and length dimensions and the usable floor area can be found under the specifications tab for the storage building of your choice.
We hope that the above information helps you make an informed choice. If you want to know exactly how much the storage building of your choice costs, please fill out our quote tool without obligation. In the last question, you enter your postal code and can choose the option 'add assembly' if desired. This will generate a quote that we will send you by email, where you can see at a glance what the assembly and transport costs are for your storage building. You can create multiple quotes and select different options to compare them well.
